The professor Raphael Mechoulam, also known as the “father of cannabis research”, has died at the age of 92. Among his many accomplishments, Dr. Mechoulam is credited with being the first person to synthesize THC. Mechoulam was born in Sofia, Bulgaria in 1930 to a Sephardic Jewish family. His family later moved to Israel, where Mechoulam studied chemistry.
As a way of honoring and honoring his legacy, we separate 5 moments in which this great man showed that the future is cannabis.
1- When you managed to isolate the components of cannabis and identify their effects;
2- When he led the research group that identified that the human body also produces cannabinoids;
3- When he discovered a substance capable of controlling seizures in people with refractory epilepsy;
4- When he helped make Israel the biggest reference in cannabis research;
5- When he did science and encouraged dozens of professionals around the world to do it too. And thanks to that, today thousands of people can safely and legally treat themselves with cannabis-based products.
